Congrats ASG Graduates!

The American Scholar Group (ASG) would like to congratulate the graduates of the class of 2016! This academic year, a total of 34 seniors graduated from from Ursuline High School, Cardinal Mooney High School, Greenville High School, Sharpsville High School, Kennedy Catholic High School and Living Word Christian School, our largest graduating class to date.
Kennedy Catholic Senior, James Tang, and Ursuline High School senior, Eris Chai, both lead the class of 2016 as the ASG program’s valedictorian (highest graduating GPA) and Salutatorian (2nd highest graduating GPA) respectively. Tang, who was also a recipient of President Barack Obama’s prestigious award for high academic excellence, will be attending the university of Wisconsin studying engineering in the Fall. “Everything’s been great,” James Tang said, summarizing his high school experience, “I have good grades, and I love all of it. I had a great experience with the American people, and I feel ready for college.” Chai will be attending Ohio State University in the Fall studying mathematics.
Senior Tom Sun, a Living Word Christian School graduate, was a featured speaker at his school’s commencement ceremony. In his speech, titled, “Memories”, Sun shared, “I have many amazing memories of LWCS that I’ll never forget and that I will cherish forever. I have made friends in America that I’ll truly miss. I never would’ve met them if I hadn’t come to America.”
The thought of giving a speech in a different language must be a terrifying one, especially for an international student who initially struggled with learning English. Sun, however, even made jokes during his speech, showcasing his growth during his time in America. Sun remarked “American education has really helped my English. Without these experiences, I probably would never be able to stand in front of a crowd and talk about myself”
