STUDY IN AMERICA

Our Study in America program provides options for living in America while attending high school. The program includes ESL and homework support as well as Academic Advising. Our Advising program aid students in adjusting to high school in the United States while also guiding them toward choices to enhance their chances of getting into the university of their choice.

Students live in a beautiful, friendly region of the country for nine months out of the year, allowing them to adapt to American culture, improve their English, and make friends. This program requires admission from one of our partner high schools as well as a successful I-20 interview in the student’s home country.

Experienced Partner Schools

Our program works with trusted and experienced partner high schools in our region, most of them offering Advanced Placement or College in High School courses for students looking to challenge themselves and impress highly ranked universities.

Students can get involved in many activities such as sports, academic competitions, charity work, school plays, and more while making friends, improving their English, and preparing for university.

A major component of our Academic Advising Program is our customizable support service for helping students to understand our five factors for university admissions success to build a strong foundation for applying to U.S. higher education.

It also helps students to understand their options

at American universities and how to pursue them.

Advanced Course Options

3

In the United States schools tend to offer Advanced Placement courses that allow students to take an exam and earn university credit, or they may offer courses in partnership with a university for earning direct university credit. Some of our partner high schools offer both.

Regular Reports to the Family

4

Our academic advisors also write reports that are sent to the recruiting agency and parents several times a year so that they stay informed about their child’s grades, behavior, and other relevant updates about their time in America. This offers families peace of mind about their child’s welfare so far from home.

Housing Options

5

Based on preference and availability, students may reside in one of our facilities or with a home stay family. Home stay offers a more direct exposure to American culture and very frequent use of English to communicate with the host family. A dormitory still encourages use of English but may have many cultures under one roof.

Cultural Immersion & Adaptation

6

Participants in our Study in America program generally reside in the United States for nine months each year, corresponding to the American school year. There are opportunities for local travel for shopping, entertainment, dining out, cultural events, educational and trips throughout the school year. We operate in the western Pennsylvania/northeastern Ohio region, forming a triangle between the cities of Pittsburgh, Cleveland, and Erie.

Making Friends & Having Fun

8

Part of childhood is making friends and learning how to get along and bond with others. For our high school students, this not only allows them to make friends and have fun, but to have unique experiences and make unforgettable memories of their time in the United States.

Academic Advising Program Our advising program offers a versatile roadmap for success in U.S. high schools and guidance and support for university admissions. This program also tracks student performance in their classes, providing regular reports to parents about how their child is doing, the goals they are setting, as well as any issues of note that may arise. Students who struggle in school have the option to enroll in a credit recovery program through a service provider that works with American Scholar.

Improved Practical
/Academic English

Spending so much time in America while attending school, talking with American friends, shopping in stores, and other normal activities has a cumulative effect over time allowing students to improve both the academic English terms and phrases they will need at university, but also practical English for basic communication with native speakers.
